Don’t Miss the Beignets and the Vanilla Bean Muffins at Bayou Bakery

Louisiana-born chef David Guas opened the Bayou Bakery in 2010 as a tribute to the southern Cajun-style cooking he grew up with in his hometown of New Orleans. It’s a tribute plenty of others appreciate, too, as his cooking has won accolades in the pages of Southern Living, Food & Wine, Saveur, Bon Appetit, and others.

The menu at this Arlington bakery is dominated by distinctly New Orleans-style dishes like buttermilk biscuits with pimiento cheese, spicy gumbo, and sugar-dusted beignets for brunch or lunch (there is no dinner menu, and the bakery closes at 7 pm). Bayou Bakery also features a grab-and-go case for folks in a rush (regulars recommend the vanilla bean muffins and the chocolate croissants). Whether you stop in for a quick coffee and bite to eat on your way to work, or meet up with friends to enjoy a leisurely lunch, Bayou Bakery should have something to meet your tastes.
